Xinomavro is Greece's great red grape, often compared to Nebbiolo for its bright acidity, firm tannins and savoury character. Naoussa Cuvée Villages is a great way in: 100% Xinomavro from the estate's younger vines and small growers' parcels spread across PDO Naoussa, each with its own altitude, slope and soil.
Medium ruby with pale highlights, it offers red and black fruit, cherry and plum, the grape's typical tomato note and hints of sweet spice and nutmeg. The palate is medium-bodied with good acidity and relatively soft tannins, finishing with smoky and herbal notes. After a five-day cold soak and fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages 12 months in French oak barrels and another year in bottle before release.
